Thursday and Friday festivities

Kick off the WexTrad Weekend with a vibrant array of events. Get ready to immerse yourself in traditional Irish music and culture.

  • Thursday Jan. 29th 9 p.m. Opening event, The Wexford Mummer's Ball. Venue: Talbot Hotel  €15 
  • Friday Jan. 30th. Smithwick's Tradtrail commences from 5 p.m. until late at 20 pub venues - free
  • Friday  7.30 p.m. NOH - The Tumbling Paddies
  • Friday  7.30 p.m. WAC -  Lisdoon Nirvana (Play)
  • Friday  8 p.m. Presentation School - Wexford County Board CCÉ presents Set Dancing Céilí with The Legacy Céilí Band  €15
  • Don't miss Friday's WexTrad concert at 9 p.m.  in the Slaney Suite at The Talbot Hotel with the fabulous Tulua (pictured left), a must-see event that showcases the best young talent in Wexford's  traditional Irish music scene. Support by Siansa - Danescastle Music Group €22.50/€17.50/€12.50

 

Saturday Sensations

Saturday 31st.  is jam-packed with workshops, (see the line up pictured right) tutor and artist sessions, and parallel performances in other venues, ensuring there's something for everyone, from families to seasoned festival-goers.

  • Saturday from 11 a.m. ECL - Teen trad busking - free
  • Sat. 12  - 6 p.m. WexTrad presents Árdán na Sláine - indoor 'gig-rig' style stage Talbot Hotel - free event
  • Sat. 1 p.m. Smithwick's Tradtrail commences at 1 p.m. and runs until until late in 20 pubs - free
  • Sat. 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. Traditional Singers' Session Mary's Bar - free event
  • Sat. 1.30 p.m. - 5.30 p.m.  Lecture/Craft workshop/Singing wellness workshop - Talbot Hotel
  • Sat. 6.30 p.m. CLG/Wexford Town Comhaltas present family TRISCO - Slaney Suite Talbot Hotel   €20 family ticket
  • Sat. 7.30 p.m. NOH - The Misneach Orchestra
  • Sat. 8 p.m. WAC - It's Wine o' Clock with Norma Sheahan - comedy show
  • On Saturday night WexTrad Weekend and Crown Quarter present the Festival Club in Crown Live at  11 p.m. - the high octane trad sensations The Rising followed by Gerry's Trisco    €15

Sunday 

Sunday's concerts with 3 ON THE BUND in the Slaney Suite at the Talbot Hotel  and earlier with The Lane to the Glen at Wexford Arts Centre will be highlights of the day (and indeed, the weekend) and you don't want to miss either.

  • Sunday Feb 1st. Smithwick's Tradtrail from 12.30 p.m. until late - 20 pubs - free
  • Sun. 1 p.m. ECL - Ceoltóirí na Sláine - teen/young adult jam session - free event
  • Sun. 2.30 p.m. WexTrad and Wexford Arts Centre present The Lane to the Glen in concert. €20/€18/€12
  •  Sun. 9 p.m. WexTrad presents 3 ON THE BUND -Slaney Suite, Talbot Hotel. Support by Nasnua. €22.50/€17.50/€12.50
  • On Sunday night WexTrad Weekend and Crown Quarter present the Festival Club in Crown Live at  11 p.m. - all-girl trad-pop fusion band Electrad followed by Gerry's Trisco    €15

Monday's send-off

Conclude the WexTrad Weekend with a relaxing Bank Holiday Monday filled with farewell sessions and final performances.

  • Monday Feb. 2nd  Open your Bank Holiday Monday to the 'hive of honeyed sound' that the Celebration of Wexford Piping concert will offer at 1 pm in The Slaney Suite, Talbot Hotel. €10 admission (at the door)
  • Smithwick's Tradtrail from 2 p.m. until early evening in approx. 10 pubs
  • At 7 p.m., make sure not to miss the closing concert with The Tin Sandwich Band (pictured left) a perfect way to end your trad music adventure. Slaney Suite, Talbot Hotel. Support by Sliabh Corcra Céilí Band - CLG/Wexford Comhaltas group. €22.50/€17.50/€12.50
